An Enchanting Hope Artist Village Wedding for Amanda and Jonathan

Amanda and Jonathan met at a house party in Rhode Island 16+ years ago. Their journey brought them to Florida, then to Nashville to live. They had three beautiful children together before they got engaged. They created an entire life with one another, and so when the time came to plan their wedding, they had so much to celebrate and be grateful for.

When Amanda told me all of this during our intake call I knew she’d be a good fit for us too. I love helping couples who are planning weddings from afar, and with Amanda her the family being in Nashville, I knew she’d need a lot of guidance from me.

Although it’s a bit of blank slate of a space and that can require a bit more planning on the couple’s part, Hope Artist Village has a lot of built in backdrops for your event and for gorgeous photos due to its unique blend of history and industrial charm.

Their ceremony spaces are unique - the open hallway used for shopping during their open hours is a really fun spot as is the village’s community garden and public courtyard which are both outdoor spaces. These spots don’t need much to be a standout for your “I Dos”.

As you’ll see below, the restored factory’s main event space, The Met, has an open floor plan that can accommodate up to 200 guests. It’s exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and large windows, create a warm and intimate atmosphere, and they are the perfect backdrop for photos. I also LOVE that there is a bar and bowling alley just upstairs from The Met, which is often used for cocktail hour. It’s such a fun space for those parts of the wedding day, not to mention the golden light just pours in as the sun sets. It’s a dynamic, editorial spot for your photos, too!

Whether we’re exploring the outside of the mill, the shopping areas, artist studios, public lounges, hallways and stairwells, you really can’t go wrong here. Just take a peek at all the magic we caught, and shout out to the incredible secret garden florals and greenery by the lovely Soul Flora. I love how colorful, enchanting, and rich this wedding is. The florals remind me lush spring meadows and Amanda’s gown is like a modern day princess’s. She is just stunning! The pop of muted earthy green in her shoes and Jonathan’s tie really pull their vision together. The colors of the spaces around the mill compliment them perfectly!

About Hope Artist Village

Hope Artist Village is a mixed-use development located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It is made up of a collection of mill buildings dating back to the 19th century, that have been repurposed and revitalized as a community of artists' studios, galleries, and small businesses.

The history of the buildings at Hope Artist Village goes back to the 1820s, when the site was first developed as a cotton mill. Over the years, the buildings were used for various industrial purposes, including manufacturing textiles, and rubber products. By the early 2000s, the mill complex had fallen into disrepair and was facing demolition.

The redevelopment of the site began in 2005, when a group of artists and community leaders came together with the goal of preserving the historic buildings and creating a community for artists and small businesses. The development was designed to retain the character of the original structures while incorporating modern amenities and sustainable design features.

The buildings at Hope Artist Village feature a mix of architectural styles, including Gothic Revival and Romanesque Revival. Many of the buildings have been restored to their original appearance, with exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and large windows.

The village features artists' studios, galleries, and small businesses such as a coffee shop, a brewery, and a printmaking studio. The village also has a community garden and a public courtyard, providing spaces for artists to display their work and for the community to gather.

Hope Artist Village is a unique development that has successfully transformed a historic mill complex into a vibrant community for artists and small businesses, while preserving its architectural heritage. The village serves as an example of adaptive reuse of historic buildings in a way that respects the past, while providing spaces for creativity and innovation.
