Venue Review: Friendly Crossways, a Rustic Farm with a Backyard Feel

It’s everyone’s favorite Boston-area wedding venue that feels like your own amazing backyard - Friendly Crossways!

This little rustic barn venue has a rich and storied history that dates back over 100 years. Originally established as a Quaker retreat center in the early 1900s, the property has been a haven for spiritual seekers and nature lovers ever since.

During World War II, it served as a safe haven for conscientious objectors, many of whom were Quakers opposed to the war. These individuals lived and worked on the land, cultivating crops and supporting the war effort in non-violent ways.

In the decades that followed, Friendly Crossways continued to serve as a retreat center and gathering place for people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Over time, the property has been lovingly restored and updated to meet the needs of modern visitors, while still retaining its original charm and character.

Fast forward to today! Friendly Crossways is now a popular wedding venue and event space that offers couples a unique and picturesque setting for their special day. From the gardens, farmland, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside, the property has something for everyone. For those fall lovers, the tree right out front turns bright yellow in October and is something else!

One of the things that couples love about Friendly Crossways was the variety of spaces available for their use. The ceremony can be held in the stunning gardens, in the field, or nestled in the woods by the beautiful, natural stone steps. The reception can take place inside the beautifully restored barn or in a tent, with a bonfire out back. And one of the best features is it’s overnight capacity! Guests can stay in the cozy cabins on the property and make it a weekend-long celebration of love and community! This makes it so much easier for couples when their immediate family and wedding party can stay onsite with them!

Just an FYI - This fun little property just changed owners, and we’ve only worked with the new team once. So far, they’re wonderful, and we can’t wait to see what they do with the place. That being said, we’re not sure how that may effect their pricing.
