Zac + Devon's Winter Island Park Wedding

Salem was a zoo during the month of October when Zac + Devon and all their family and friends traveled up from the south for their destination wedding at Winter Island Park.

We met up with them outside of the famous house from Hocus Pocus and made our way through the city of Salem to as many iconic spots as we could. I love starting with couples photos - it really sets the tone for the day - and this was no exception. We had a ton of fun laughing as we dodged crowds and snapped pics. I’m honestly kind of amazed at how many photos we got without people in the background!

We eventually made our way to Winter Island Park where the ceremony and reception were taking place.

Winter Island is a picturesque park located on a small peninsula on the coast of Salem. The park offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and rocky cliffs of Salem Harbor.

Zac + Devon love Halloween and love Salem, so all of the design elements had a bit of spook to them. We love the macabre color scheme and scary-season details!

Zac and Devon got married on the small beachfront, with the coastal cliffs and lighthouse in the background, surrounded by pumpkins and the natural beauty of the Salem harbor.

After an emotional ceremony and lots of hugs, we headed over to the reception hall to gather for portraits. We took a few on the porch with the beach in the background and then headed over to the lawn for the rest. The park’s green space is a large lawn surrounded by trees, twinkle lights, and historic buildings that look a bit decrepit - how on theme! It was the perfect background for some fun group photos.

The evening featured lobster rolls, hilarious speeches, surprise outfit changes, and an epic night shot by the water. Keep scrolling for more photos from this perfect, non traditional day, and a little more history on Winter Island Park!

About Winter Island Park

Winter Island is a public park located in Salem, Massachusetts. It is situated on a small peninsula jutting out into Salem Harbor.

The park features a large open lawn that is surrounded by trees and old fortifications. There is also a small beach, which is a popular spot in the warmer month and a large picnic area looking out onto cliffs and lighthouse. There are several picnic tables and grills, making it a great place for families and groups to gather for barbecues and other events.

In addition to its natural beauty, Winter Island Park also has a deep local history. The park is the site of Fort Pickering, a former coastal defense fort that was built in the late 1800s. Visitors can explore the remains of the fort, including the underground magazines and bunkers, and learn about the history of the property and its role in defending the harbor during World War II.
