Capturing Love and Light: A Magical Queer Wedding at Fruitlands Museum
Today, I'm excited to share a glimpse into a magical queer wedding I recently had the honor of photographing at the picturesque Fruitlands Museum. Trust me; it was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. I posted Carolyn and Michaella’s at home engagement session earlier this month on the blog, and am so excited to be able to share their big day with you now!
The two brides, Michaella and Carolyn, chose the stunning Fruitlands Museum as the backdrop for their special day. Nestled among rolling hills and breathtaking scenery, it was the perfect setting for a celebration of love that transcends boundaries.
Situated in Harvard, Massachusetts, Fruitlands Museum boasts a stunning backdrop of rolling hills, meadows, and orchards. The venue's expansive grounds provide a tranquil and romantic atmosphere, creating a captivating setting for couples looking to exchange vows surrounded by nature's beauty.
Couples can choose from a variety of ceremony spaces to suit their vision. Whether exchanging vows in an outdoor setting with panoramic views or within the historic buildings, Fruitlands Museum offers flexibility and unique options for a personalized ceremony. Carolyn and Michaella opted for panoramic views during their fall ceremony.
The couple opted for a classic aisle reveal instead of a first look. Little did they know, this decision would lead to a wave of emotions, especially for one of the brides. As a wedding photographer, capturing these raw and genuine moments is what makes each event so special, but I know that looking back, these two regret not doing a first look instead.
The ceremony was a stunning affair overlooking the hills. Love was in the air as the two brides exchanged vows, surrounded by their closest friends and family. And let me tell you, the view was nothing short of spectacular.
Post-ceremony, we chased the dying light to capture golden hour photos. The soft, warm glow of the setting sun created a magical ambiance, making for some truly enchanting pictures. It was a race against time, but we managed to capture the essence of their love as the day transitioned into night.
Now talk about a golden hour, am I right? The Fruitlands Museum did not disappoint! We were so excited exploring the falling light and leaves (the foliage, though!) that we got some of our best shots of the day.
Entering the reception tent as the sun dipped below the horizon provided a breathtaking backdrop. The outstanding views and vibrant hues painted the scene with an almost surreal quality. It was like stepping into a fairytale, and my camera couldn't have been happier.
