A Fairytale Indian-American Micro-Wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza
Like so many couples, myself included, Abigail and Neil met online. Every weekend the summer before their wedding they would would go to the beach for the day. They packed a picnic and spent the day swimming in the ocean, chatting for hours in the waves. They’d end the day with oysters on their way home. Can you think of a better way to spend your summer? I like to think this is why they chose the delicious Banks Fish House as their reception space.
The couple’s luxe Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding started with a first look in the classic hotel lobby hallway, followed by photos around the hotel before their ceremony. Afterwards, we popped a bottle of champagne and dared the rain to explore Copley Square, stopping in front of the Fairmont Copley awning before heading to the Public Library and Trinity Church. So many beautiful spots in one area!
In Indian weddings, flowers hold profound cultural and symbolic significance, weaving a fragrant tapestry of tradition, spirituality, and beauty. Beyond their aesthetic charm, flowers play a pivotal role in various rituals and ceremonies. From the vibrant garlands exchanged during the Jaimala ceremony (which you see below) symbolizing the unity of two souls to the intricate floral decorations adorning the mandap, flowers are integral to expressing love, purity, and auspiciousness.
The scent of jasmine, marigold, and roses not only elevates the sensory experience but also invokes positive energy. Each bloom carries specific meanings, aligning with cultural beliefs and customs, making them an essential part of the intricate cultural mosaic that defines Indian weddings. In this kaleidoscope of colors and fragrances, flowers not only decorate the celebration but infuse the ceremony with blessings, joy, and a timeless connection to Indian heritage.
It was a rainy year, but still a beautiful one. Boston is vibrant, even on cloudy days - it really made their outfits and florals pop.
As the couple readied themselves for their cocktail party, their guests mingled and enjoyed delicious food and drink at The Banks Fish House just behind Trinity Church in Copley Square. What a fun space for a cocktail party! I had such a great time capturing candids of them chatting with guests, and enjoying a few yummy snacks myself!
