Posing Tips for Enby and Queer Couples: Let's Get Adventurous!

So, picture this: it's a crisp fall day in Boston, and we're gearing up for an epic engagement session with a badass couple Our location? A hidden oasis right smack dab in the heart of the city—a pond surrounded by lush greenery, with just a hint of autumn in the air.

The leaves hadn't quite gotten the memo yet, so we didn't have that picturesque fall foliage to work with. But hey, we're all about making lemonade out of lemons, right? And let me tell you, we nailed it.

We started off slow, feeling out the vibes and getting comfortable with one another. Then, it was time to switch things up with an outfit change— because why settle for one killer look when you can have two?

Once we were all decked out, it was game on. We chased the light like our lives depended on it, dancing between shadows and sunshine to find that perfect glow. We had an absolute blast playing with poses and getting creative, that I had to use this joy-filled session as a reason to help folks pose in a truly inclusive way.

By now you know that I am here for so much more than capturing images - I'm here to create safe spaces for my couples and tell stories for our communities.

There's no need for fancy poses or forced smiles. It's all about creating a chill and comfortable space for you to be yourself. The photos will reflect the real connection you share. No judgments, just genuine captures that tell your unique story in all its idiosyncratic glory.

Here are some of my favorite tips for posing and helping couples to lean into their session. And by the way - these can work whether you’re queer or not! 🫰

  1. Embrace the Power of Movement: Don't be afraid to shake things up! Running, dancing, twirling, you name it. Movement adds energy and dynamism to your photos and it literally helps shake your nerves out.

  2. Express Yourself: Your love is unique, so don't be afraid to let your personality shine through. Whether you're goofy, romantic, or somewhere in between, own it! This can also extend to your wardrobe— I love a themed shoot!

  3. Mix It Up: We love an obvious “gender role swap” moment, but there are so many ways to pose authentically and creatively. Gender-neutral poses are, I think, so overlooked. It doesn’t have to give 2005 prom. Don’t be afraid to get on the ground, use your angles, and most of all Trust your Photographer.

  4. Trust Your Photographer: It’s so right we’re saying it twice! We're here to make you look and feel amazing, and we know what we’re doing. So trust us to guide you through the process, to help you lean in when it’s giving LOVE. Relax, have fun, and let the magic happen.
