Wedding: Elegance at the Boston Public Library
The Boston Public Library is one of the city’s most infamous and beautiful wedding venues - giving black tie luxury wedding experience new meaning. Celebrations typically take place after the Library has closed and while there are many rooms, our favorite is the courtyard, though other rooms such as the Guastavino Room and the Map Room Tea Lounge are available during open hours for celebrations. Overall, it’s an unforgettable setting for an upscale event.
With a max capacity that can reach up to 225-500 guests, depending on the room, the Library works beautifully as a venue for an intimate wedding or a large and lavish affair. The Italianate design of the courtyard with it’s arched walkways and stonework reminiscent of Rome is full of garden paths, a fountain and statue. Guests sit along the edges of the courtyard as the ceremony takes place by the fountain.
Inside and the way up the grand staircase is Bates Hall of the McKim Building. The room is lined with bookcases and the tables with reading lights. It’s a full on library wedding fantasy when decked out with dinner set ups and decor. The beautiful florals and minimalistic centerpieces for this BPL wedding were the perfect accoutrement to Bates Hall’s grandiose aesthetic (50 foot ceilings grandiose!). This couple opted for dinner in Bates Hall and dancing in the Abbey Room next door with a live band.
