The Perfect Locations for your Wintry Boston Engagement Session

Nothing says winter in Boston like the Public Garden and Beacon Hill! We love the pine-laden stoop decor, the twinkle of lights through front windows, and all the magic in between.

Here are three sessions from December with couples of ours - two engagement sessions and one couple’s wedding portraits. Check out how we explored Boston common and the historic Beacon Hill neighborhoods and how we captured each couple in their own, special way.

MARGARET + BEN

A Hinge love story 😍. The two started dating in 2019 and quickly deleted all dating apps from their phone. You can call it love at first swipe Before the pandemic hit, they had already spoken about moving in together and then, well, COVID 😉 happened. So they did!

When Ben wanted to propose to Margaret, he took her on a walk to her favorite bookstore and along the way they stopped to sit on a bench. He reached into his bag, got down on one knee, and then time kind of stood still. Well that was according to Ben. According to Margaret, she had to interrupt him in order to say yes!

We loved running around Beacon Hill at all of our favorite spots and can’t wait to celebrate with them in the summer of 2023 at Elm Bank, a venue we absolutely adore!

MEGHAN + JOE

Even without snow, Boston looks SO wintry in November. Especially when you’ve got the outfit to prove it!

I’ve known Joe since we were kids (our parents are good friends), and Meghan since I photographed Joe’s sister’s wedding at the beautiful Briar Barn Inn over in Rowley, MA.

It was a chilly day when we ventured out into Boston for their engagement session, and I was so impressed with how NOT cold these two made it look. We started out in the back alleys of Beacon Hill and made our way from Rouvalis flowers to the Public Garden. In the early winter, you still get pops of orange here and there, especially from the late to turn willow trees that line the pond. The way the light hits the leaves at golden hour just makes everything glow.

We can’t wait to celebrate with them at Lake Pearl in 2024!

KATHLEEN + JAKE

These two southern cuties eloped on vacation and wanted to take their wedding photos in Beacon Hill in mid December. We met at the Boston Public Garden and wound our way from the stone gazebo by Tremont Street into Beacon Hill until we found ourselves on the iconic Acorn Street.

Looking at these photos of the garden, I can’t help but marvel at how green the willow trees still are in late December. That dusting of orange throughout the leaves is everything!
