Wedding: Elegant, Intimate Cliffwalk Wedding
Jenifer + Jared chose one of our favorite destination spots for their out of town wedding - Newport, RI. Set right on the Cliffwalk, every location was breathtaking - from the inn where they were getting ready, to their first look spot and ceremony location. There’s a reason this is one of our faves. The long winding cliff walk takes you along the rocky shores of Rhode Island’s coast from up high, and is dotted with stunning mansions complete with picturesque yards and unbelievable views of the ocean and sandy shores. We absolutely loved the colors in J + J’s details and the natural surfaces we found in our bride’s getting ready location. Favorite little detail? The cocktails named after their kitties, of course!
Those moments right before we get our brides in their dress are always the most fun. Buzzing with energy, these girls popped a bottle and had a little toast before helping J into her gown.
We had a quick first look by the ocean, then headed back to the inn to take a few more photos before leaving for our venue and our first look with dad, something we always cherish capturing.
Because of the shorter schedule and smaller crowd, we broke couples photos up throughout the day. By having fun, joyous 10-15 minute portrait sessions a couple of times between first look and reception, we were able to take advantage of all of the best light in the day without sacrificing too much of the schedule or taking the couple away from their party. Jenifer and Jared were naturals, can you believe they don’t normally display PDA in public? We seriously couldn’t. 99% of the time when a couple tells me they’re awkward during our consult or in the run up to their wedding, I always assure them I’ve got their back while smiling on the inside because I know they’ll be fine and will probably be naturals, just like these two.
With the sun high in the sky, guests begin to arrive and seat themselves while the wedding party and family line up for processional.
Can you even handle the way these two are looking at each other after they place the rings on their hands and are about to say “I Do”? Me neither!
Cocktail hour was full of happy faces, fun reunions and a “surprise we’re pregnant announcement” that had the bride over the moon! This is the prettiest time of day, when the sun begins to set and twinkle lights get turned on and everything is just bliss. There’s a reason we call it “magic hour”.
Taking advantage of the incredible lighting and sunset potentials that golden hour has on a clear day, we set out around the venue and down to the cliffwalk to brave the rocks for some entirely too epic couple photos.
